Drawing scents
Hortus Botanicus Leiden
August-December 2024
We are surrounded by smells every moment of our day. We may not always be aware of it, but smell constantly affects our attractions, memories, and emotions. Nowadays, we are less dependent on our sense of smell for survival and often regard it as a lesser sense (in comparison to sight or hearing).
During this workshop we will exercise the relationship between our sense of smell and our visual memory. We create an archive of visual representations of plant smells, collected around the beautiful gardens. What does a smell look like? Join this journey to discover your individual world of imagery in relation to scents.
Fibonacci in nature
Sketching workshop
Join me for an insightful workshop where we'll explore the fascinating overlap between art and science, through the study of the golden ratio and the Fibonacci sequence. These mathematical principles, which can be found anywhere in nature, serve as a source of inspiration and a guideline for artists throughout history in their compositions. During our time together, we will create sketches inspired by the Fibonacci spiral. Prepare to catch the Fibonacci fever!
